Senegal (Game reserve)

About 12 km/7.5 mi north of the Gambian border with Senegal lies Fathala Park. 

Ousman will pick you up early in the morning in his four-wheel jeep with, if you wish, a canvas sunroof, and drive you to the ferry boat in Banjul. 

Crossing the Gambian River to Barra takes about an hour. At the ferry you will got a lot of impressions, crowds of happy Gambians coming and going to weddings and family parties, in full buses and on foot, and cars with three meters or more of baggage and boxes tied on their roofs.

From there you’ll drive to the Senegal border past typical Gambian villages, and from Barra it’s a thirty-minute drive to Fathala Park. This is bush country, home to zebras, rhinos, giraffes, apes and antelopes, so there’s plenty to see. Before you start home, if you wish, Ousman can arrange a lunch for you.
